Guided Meditation or Path to Fractal World Enlightenment
In Buddhist and Hindu religious practices, Samadhi represents the pinnacle of meditation. The term encompasses meanings such as integrity, association, implementation, completion, and compilation. In the meditative traditions of Hinduism and Buddhism, Samadhi refers to a state where the notion of individuality dissolves, leaving only the unity of the perceiver and the perceived. This enlightened state, achieved through meditation, manifests as a serene consciousness, resolving contradictions between inner and outer worlds. It signifies the merging of individual consciousness as a microcosm with the cosmic absolute as a macrocosm, allowing the practitioner to grasp the fundamental physics of the universe.
Our everyday world is defined by two-dimensional surfaces, outlined by one-dimensional lines, and constrained by three-dimensional objects—a comprehensible, comforting reality of relatively simple dimensions. However, Benoit Mandelbrot, in his book "The Fractal Geometry of Nature" (1982), challenged this simplicity, stating, "Clouds are not spheres, mountains are not cones, and lightning does not travel in a straight line." Mandelbrot introduced the concept of fractal geometry, emphasizing the complexity of nature's shapes that differ not just in degree but in kind from those of ordinary geometry.
At the heart of the fractal concept lies self-similarity, where the configuration of the whole system repeats within the general form or replicates the pattern infinitely with some variations. Nature is replete with self-similar patterns, evident in stones, mountains, crystals, plants, clouds, waves, and more. Fractal art, existing in non-digital forms since the time of artists like Leonardo da Vinci and M. C. Escher, has found a place in the digital realm, with artists like George Grie incorporating fractals into their compositions.
In Grie's painting, "Meditation of Awareness or the Path to Enlightenment, Fractality of the World," the artist explores the aesthetic possibilities of fractal art, guided by philosophy and cosmology. The compositions resemble daydreams, challenging the perception of solid and immutable substances. Examining the intricate details reveals that seemingly solid entities, from the human body to planets, consist of tiny, void particles and exist as continuous processes governed by their own laws.
The artwork prompts profound questions about identity and existence, contemplating what we are when broken down to the smallest particles and reassembled. It challenges the notion of movement in a world seemingly made of non-existent particles. The painting suggests that only by opening one's soul and aligning consciousness with the intelligent cells of the void can a person co-create with the field of Consciousness. Individuals can shape their future through concentrated actions, creating a new world within the existing societal framework and elevating their lives from chance to conscious creation.*
