The Langoliers or Inevitable Entropy

"The ultimate purpose of life is to facilitate entropy. We are the langoliers of the present reality." - Kurt Vonnegut

The Langoliers are fictional creatures created by Stephen King in his novella of the same name. They are ball-shaped nasty creatures with chainsaw teeth that devour the world of yesterday. In the novella they are chasing the remaining passengers of an airliner who found themselves stuck in a mysterious time warp. Having managed to land the airplane, the survivors discover that the time had stopped its course and they seem to be the only people left on the planet. In the middle of nowhere they will have to solve the mystery and outrun the langoliers wiping the remainder of the past off the face of the earth.

The concept of entropy has entered common language primarily as a metaphor for chaos, disorder or dissipation of energy, whereas traditional definition of entropy refers to thermodynamic processes and denotes the amount of wasted energy in a dynamical energy transformation on a molecular level. There was a very interesting scientific notion in the 19th century suggesting a gradual increase in entropy and the ultimate end of any motion in the universe as a result of it. Simply put, it was argued that the universe was running down. Eventually people realized that it will take billions of years for this to happen, if ever, and the overall concern over this issue has simmered down.

This image has combinations of prime elements of different entities such as landscape and architecture, airplane and ship, desert and cliffs, which create an atmosphere of bazar and chaotic reality. But, who knows what to expect at the very end ;)
